Your home affects your body more than you think

I had an interesting conversation with my fitness trainer and coach. We spoke about all things environment and she mentioned a particular client story who was struggling to loose weight. No matter what they had tried together the weight was difficult to shift. There was a sabotage happening.

They decided to look deeper. Not counting the macros , food tracking or the routine, but instead this time at her environment. What they found was that this clients kitchen was chaotic. If I remember correctly it was also painted in red which is a no go (context dependant). The kitchen was a space she hated and disliked being in.

Here is the thing, when you dislike your space or you feel resistance towards it, it creates stress in your body dysregulating your nervous system. Your biology has no choice but to respond. So the cortisol spikes, digestion slows and your body holds on. The very space that was meant to be nourishing now becomes a sneaky trigger.

They made the change, the client changed her kitchen and yes the weight gradually dropped off. It became easier. Why? Because the environment this time was in harmony. In other words the body stopped fighting with her space.

Your home is not just a home, it is a place that subconsciously and energetically communicates with the mind and body, shaping your lifestyle, your habits and your beliefs.

This is the reason I do the work I do with the approach that I have in interior design. Design that considers the foundation of your nervous system, your lifestyle, your background and your energy, so you can experience safety. You’re not surviving. You’re now living.
