Why you cannot heal in an environment that has hurt you

The environment is the most underrated aspect of your personal development lives. The power your environment has from an energetic perspective can either expand you or have a hold on you mentally. Where you are born, raised and where you live determines many factors of your life - shaping how you think, how safe you feel and how much possibility you see which then shapes your world view. In healing, this is often underestimated and misunderstood, since the notion of “you should not blame anything external” which is partially true but not complete. Your environment and your mind both play off each other, and your mind is constantly scanning for safety! you must work on both the mind and the external environment by protecting who you are with, making deliberate choices on where you live and how you live. It’s a form of frequency hygiene.

If you notice, almost every single successful people are mindful of their environment, some pay more than they need to reside in a nicer place, be weary of who they speak to and who they allow in. It is the very environment that contributes to your happiness, success and overall quality of life.

You can do this too, being mindful of your environment as a stepping stone to the life you want to live. Start at your level. Begin by building a foundation step by step and refine as you go along.

If you are reading this or found yourself here that means you want some form of success in your life, whether that is monetary, looking for freedom and live life to the maximum which you deserve. You want good for yourself, you want to break the generational cycle, creating a calming atmosphere in your homes. Do know that you can change and rewire your self concept via shifting your environment.

We make associations, and we also have triggers that is stored very deeply into our cells. Being around your triggers on a constant basis will send you to your old patterns and behaviours. No matter how much you try, your triggers will come back after some point, cancelling out the progress that you already made. Hopefully, you are not a robot walking around? It conditions your behaviour and lowers your expectations of what is possible for you. You are a complexed human being, most importantly, with a heart that feels!.

The body in itself is intelligent and remembers even if your mind doesn’t, therefore just the right amount of trigger can set you off again. Your nervous system will continue to stay dysregulated in that very environment, that's why for some of you, you make the progress but also fall back. (Hint: Shift your environment).

When people around you are living a life you don’t admire or inspired by you feed of that energy too. Its contagious and dangerous for your development. Its not that you lack discipline. Its because your environment is silently programming you. The nature and the very essence of human beings is to grow, to move, to expand, it is then vital your environment supports the very growth where you can have your own identity and raise your consciousness. Yet how can you evolve when in the same place that was supposed to shape you is there to shrink you?

Being continually dysregulated is not healthy for your nervous system regulation, you will be exhausted. This is also not to say you will never be triggered outside of the environment, for sure you will be. But how you manage that and how those triggers effect you is different to the environment your body is used to being hurt in. When your body and mind constantly signals instability as an adaptive response you prioritise your immediate safety rather than long term growth. In other words you are surviving and not expanding. Being this way creates blockages in the heart, the soul. And the very essence of us being human is to be connected to our soul, to come back home to your full authentic self.

We change, of course, but some people don't or that they take their time, I know in some cultures, it's difficult or considered a "taboo" to move out from families, (even if it may not be a dysfunctional situation) moving out is not to cut them off completely, but instead move away so you can rebuild yourself, rewire your associations, forgive and heal in a safer environment and then come back to them should you wish.

Let me clarify something important, in the beginning you must start with the current environment as you'l learn about your triggers and how to handle them on a foundational level, build resilience, boundaries, and self awareness, which is key to developing further. However, after a certain point, you will need to move away as your lifestyle, mindset, and so much more about you will have changed. It's ok to take that step and come back with heaps of love and forgiveness. You can't heal that wound if the very wound or person is constantly triggering you, or if the environment just simply feels unsafe to let your guard down. You'll vibrate of that negative energy and continue to be in the loop you are in.
